Free Excel and Quickbooks Online Workshop Series for BMCC Students

Workshop in computer lab

The Accounting Department’s free Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks workshop is designed to provide students with exposure to a variety of Excel applications and QuickBooks Online expertise. Students will learn to organize and sort various data and information. The workshops will be designed to prepare students for real world applications and to better prepare them for Excel and QBO certifications. QuickBooks Online Workshop

Understanding Accounting basics through the eyes of the software platform
1. Overview of the homepage and menu system
2. Review financial statements.
3. Understand Cash vs. Accrual accounting. What’s the difference and which should you use?
4. Understand and know when to use general journal entries.
5. Set a closing date to protect your accounting records.

Invoicing and Processing Payments from Customers
1. Create and send invoices and sales receipts.
2. Learn how to Receive Payments for Invoices
3. Understand the Making Deposits process.
4. Compile and send Customer Statements

Expenses & Payments
1. Entering and Paying Bills
2. Understanding the difference in processing expenses and bills in QBO
3. Understand the difference between Writing Checks vs. entering bills
4. Run and customize expense & vendor reports to get deeper insights about how and where you’re spending money.

1. Generate Product Invoices
2. Create Purchase orders and learn the receiving and invoicing process.

1. Prepare and process Month End/Year End Routines
2. Conduct Bank reconciliations on the QBO Platform
