June Soto is an Assistant Professor in Nursing. A She currently teaches Level III Nursing as Lead Instructor for Nursing 313-131 and teaches Clinical at Bellevue Hospital and other clinical sites.
She graduated from Columbia University with a Masters Degree in Nursing Education. Prof. Soto hold New York State Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Prof Soto has been an educator for over 35 years, and has worked in many of the CUNY schools as Adjunct faculty.
She also worked at Elmira College in Elmira, NY, and Mansfield University in Pennsylvania as a full time faculty for several years.
Prof Soto worked as a Clinical Performance Examiner for Excelsior College External Degree Program for twelve years, where she administered the CPNE.
Prof Soto recently developed a Study Abroad Course in collaboration with the Health Education Department. This 3 credit course: Cross Cultural Health Education Peru and US was offered In 2017. The course focused on Cultural competency, and Access to Health Care among the Indigenous population of the Amazon region. Eleven BMCC Nursing students participated in this exceptional learning experience in 2017. The course is being offered during the Summer.

- 8 CRS.4 HRS.4 LAB HRS.NUR 313 (Nursing Process III: Pediatric and Basic Medical-Surgical Nursing Care)
- This course is composed of a seven-week component in Nursing Care of Children and a seven-week component in Basic Medical-Surgical Nursing Care. The Pediatric Nursing component focuses on the child's physical, social, and emotional reaction to illness, the nurse's role in providing support to the child and the members of his/her family during periods of stress. Emphasis is placed upon differences between each phase of growth and development trends in care and measures utilized to promote a healthy childhood and adolescence. The Basic Medical-Surgical Nursing component builds upon previous nursing knowledge and techniques already introduced. Major emphasis is placed upon common recurring health problems. Psycho-social nursing techniques are emphasized as they relate to the care of the client with selected health problems. Prerequisites: NUR 211 and all previous prerequisites, Corequisites: SPE 100, ENG 201.
