Additional Borrowing Policies
Renewals
Renewals can be done through your Library Account, or by contacting the Circulation Desk.
Requests/Holds
Students, faculty, and staff can place holds in the library catalog when logged into their account. Patrons may select the pick-up library for the book when placing the hold.
Books cannot be mailed to patrons and must be picked up at a CUNY Library.
Reserves
Textbooks being used in BMCC courses are “on reserve” the Library. This means that students can check out the book for three hours, but you may take it out of the library, e.g., to class or to meet with a tutor. The book must be returned on time, or fines may be accrued, preventing you from checking out other library materials.
Book Chapter Scanning Service
Certain materials can be requested for chapter scanning. We cannot scan entire books or large portions of works. Scans are for personal, education use only. More information about chapter scanning is here.
Lost Items
Lost Item Replacement is generally the cost of the item. Lost books may be replaced with a new copy in good condition, subject to approval by BMCC Library Staff.
Blocks
One (1) overdue item or a total of $25.00 or more in fines will suspend borrowing privileges university-wide.
Collection Development Policy
Our full policy can be found on the Collection Development Policies page.
Donations
Please see the Library’s Collection Development plan for information on our donation policies.

Noise
S410 (Library) is a quiet study space. If you need to talk with your classmates, please use S430 (across the hall from the Library). You can also reserve group study rooms in Fiterman and the Library. If you are disturbing other patrons, we may have to ask you to leave the library.
