BMCC Library Joins Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge 2025

BMCC Library Circulating collection

For over a decade, Book Riot has issued an annual “Read Harder Challenge” to encourage readers to read outside of their comfort zones. If that sounds like a good idea, but you’re wondering where to start, the Read Harder Challenge has devised a system to help! Book Riot issues two “tasks” every month to help you pick interesting, unexpected new books and this year, the BMCC Library is issuing our own set of tasks to help you explore our collection!

For Spring 2025, the BMCC Library challenges you to read about:

Challenge 1. Historical Paranormal Fiction

Vampires of El Norte, Isabel Cañas, 2023

The Stolen Queen : A Novel, Fiona Davis 2025

The Lost Dreamer, Lizz Huerta, 2022

Challenge 2. Secret Societies

The Atlas Paradox, Olivia Blake, 2024

Book of Night, Holly Black, 2022

Please Join Us : A Novel, Catherine McKenzie,2022

Challenge 3. Inter-generational Psychological Fiction

Feeding Ghosts : A Graphic Memoir, Tessa Hulls, 2024

Behind You is the Sea : A Novel, Susan Muaddi Darraj, 2024

Rosarita, Anita Desai, 2025

All of these titles are available here at the BMCC Library, but for more voracious readers, did you know that every BMCC student is entitled to an NYPL Library Card? Sign up online https:// www.nypl.org/library-card/new ; or at any branch (the nearest branch to the BMCC campus is the Battery Park City Library, at 175 North End Ave.). You can also visit the famous main branch at Bryant Park (476 5th Ave.), where you can take a pic with the iconic lions, Patience and Fortitude!
