YouthBuild

YouthBuild

The Manhattan EOC YouthBuild is the only YouthBuild project in Central Harlem, joining projects in East Harlem and Upper Manhattan, and is one of only six (6) grantees from New York State awarded in the 2022 award year to provide education, training, and leadership development to participants aged 16-24.

Manhattan EOC YouthBuild participants earn their High School Equivalency diploma while gaining high-demand construction industry skills in carpentry and plumbing. They then will use their new skills in construction to rehabilitate affordable housing for low-income or previously unhoused families in their community.

An important objective of the YouthBuild program is youth development and leadership. Participants will further develop leadership skills and civic engagement through community service projects in the community where they’ll utilize their newly acquired carpentry skills.
