Career Training
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for all Career Training Programs. High School credentials in other languages need to be submitted in the original format along with a certified English translated version for review.
On the TABE 11/12, all career training programs must have an NRS Level of 3 or better with the minimum test score listed below. TABE 11/12 scores from a Community Based Organization or Adult Education Center are accepted if submitted with an application and on letterhead of the organization with the scores, form, level and date of the exam. A score report from DRC for the TABE 11/12 is also acceptable. In addition, TABE 11/12 Locator scores are allowable for Career Training programs with minimum scores listed below.

HEALTHCARE TRAINING PROGRAMS
EKG Technician Training
The Certified Electrocardiography or EKG Technician Program prepares students for employment in the healthcare industry. The core components of the program include EKG Fundamentals, preparation for National Healthcareer Association® (NHA) EKG Technician Certification (CET) exam, EKG Clinical and Career Development support. Upon completion of the program, students will sit for the NHA CET exam. EKG Technicians operate noninvasive equipment which print graphic tracings of electrical impulses transmitted by the heart.

Pharmacy Technician Training
The Pharmacy Technician Program is designed for individuals who are customer friendly and interested in pursuing a career in the rapidly growing Pharmacy retail industry. Students will learn the techniques required to stock, package, and prepare medications for distribution and provide information to patients. The program will also provide the necessary information required to earn the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) offered by the National Healthcareer Association® (NHA). Certification is a valuable component of the Pharmacy Technician’s career.

Phlebotomy Training
Students prepare for careers as Phlebotomy Technicians to work in medical facilities, including hospitals, laboratories, doctors’ offices, home health agencies, research clinics and blood banks. Career growth as a Phlebotomist is explored. Hands-on training through classroom instruction is offered. Students prepare for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association® (NHA).

Electronic Health Records Training
Students prepare for employment in hospitals, clinics and physician offices working as an Electronic Health Records Specialist. Microsoft® Word and Excel workshops are included to enhance students’ medical office skills. Students participate in an internship to gain everyday work experience in electronic health records. Students prepare for the Certified Electronic Health Records (CHERS) exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association® (NHA).

Medical Administrative Assistant Training
The Medical Administrative Assistant Program prepares students for employment in a variety of clerical support positions within the healthcare field. Medical Administrative Assistants are skilled multi-taskers who direct the flow of patients through a medical office. Students in this program will receive training in maintenance of medical records, medical terminology, basics of medical billing and coding, office procedures, providing effective customer service, scheduling and confirming patient appointments, database and keyboarding skills and other office administrative skills. The curriculum includes HIPAA training as well. Upon completion of this program the student will be prepared for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national certification exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association® (NHA).

Certified Nursing Assistant
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program is designed for individuals who are customer friendly and interested in provided compassionate direct patient care. Students prepare to care for individuals in rehabilitation centers or nursing homes under the supervision of the nursing and medical staff. Students prepare for the New York State Certified Nurse Aide exam and become Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified.

SAFETY, SECURITY, & HOSPITALITY PROGRAMS
OSHA
The OSHA 30-hour for Construction, the 10-hour Site Safety Training (SST), and Flagger certification are components of the OSHA program. Students learn the fundamentals of promoting workplace safety and health as well as preventing workplace hazards and their rights. Topics include communicating OSHA laws, understanding chemical and electrical hazards and overall health and safety in the workplace. Upon completion of the program, students receive the OHSA 30-hour and the SST cards. These cards are required for individuals to work on any construction site and fulfill the requirements for entry-level construction industry job placement.

Security Officer Training
Students prepare for careers as New York State Licensed Security Guards. Students complete the 8-hour pre-assignment training and 16-hour job training. Preparation for the NYC Fire Department Certificate of Fitness as a Fire Guard is provided. Prerequisites include online learning modules in preparation for certification.

Google IT
This program is an introduction to the skills and knowledge required for a role as an entry-level Information Technology (IT) Support Specialist. It is designed as an introductory training to the world of IT careers. Student will learn about the different facets of Information Technology, like the fundamentals of IT support, including troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration, and security. This program provides an overview of the role and responsibilities of an Information Technology Support Specialist.

Commercial Driver’s License
This program will assist students in obtaining their NYS Commercial Driver’s permit for employment opportunities as a commercial driver. Training including traditional classroom instructor, training with a CDL Driver simulator, and the required behind-the-wheel training. Collectively these components prepare students to take the CDL exam in class A, B, or C as they determine as appropriate to their career goals.

Hospitality Training
Students further develop skills in customer service and the hospitality industry as they gain hands-on experience in a restaurant or hotel setting and earn nationally recognized certifications such as the ManageFirst® certification from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF). The program has two tracks: Food Service and Hotel/Tourism Management.
