BMCC Applauds Faculty for Excellence in Research and Scholarly Work
This evening, December 1, BMCC will host a reception in the Shirley Fiterman Art Center honoring faculty and staff whose research and scholarly work has been awarded funding in the last year.

BMCC Participates in Goldman Sachs College Collaborative Program
Students from BMCC, along with students attending Hudson County Community College, New Jersey City University and St. Peter’s University, are taking part in the Goldman Sachs College Collaborative Program through May 2017. The program will raise students’ awareness of career opportunities and they will meet with experienced professionals from Goldman Sachs as they complete business-related case studies.

U.S. DOL Grant Helps BMCC Build New Pipeline to IT Jobs
BMCC, as part of a CUNY consortium, received a four-year $1.8 million grant from the United States Department of Labor to offer a CISCO training program that creates a pathway to the college’s associate degree program in Computer Information Systems.

Good Deeds Day

Good Deeds Day Celebrates Civility
On November 22, the BMCC Women’s Resource Center hosted Good Deeds Day: A Day of Civility and Respect. The day-long event featured a performance by singer Nkira Barrow; an open mic facilitated by BMCC Professor of English Margaret Barrow; a self-defense class led by Brian Glick of Brooklyn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a talk by Jeenie Yoon of the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault, a flash-mob performance and more.

BMCC Hosts Art and Rita Siegel Piano Lab Dedication Ceremony
On Sunday, November 20, the Art and Rita Siegel Piano Lab Dedication Ceremony was held in Fiterman Hall. “We were honored to officially recognize and celebrate the naming of the Art and Rita Siegel Piano Lab,” says Doris Holz, BMCC Vice President of Development and Chief Operating Officer of the BMCC Foundation, Inc. “The naming was accompanied by a generous gift of $50,000 from our friend and supporter, Leslie Siegel, who chose to name this room in memory of her parents, who were music lovers.”

Nominations Open for BMCC Distinguished Teaching Award
The second round of the BMCC Distinguished Teaching Award is now open. According to Karrin E. Wilks, Senior Vice President and Provost, the awards recognize faculty whose sustained excellence in teaching "incites intellectual curiosity in students, inspires colleagues both within and outside his or her department, and demonstrates effective and innovative pedagogy with clear evidence of student learning gains. "To nominate full-time tenured professors, full-time lecturers with CCE, and adjunct faculty with 10 or more semesters of teaching at BMCC, contact Lisa St. Hill, lsthill@bmcc.cuny.edu.

Donate Food! Bring Canned Goods to Office of Academic Advisement
During this holiday season, the BMCC Out in Two program encourages the BMCC community to donate canned foods and other non-perishable items to the New York City Food Bank. Bring your donated items to the Academic Advisement and Transfer Center (AATC) at 199 Chambers Street, Room S-108. Look for the holiday-themed boxes to place your donations. The drive will be open through Wednesday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. The AATC is open 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Mondays through Fridays; 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays.

BMCC Community Invited to Academic Assessment Day, Dec. 13
The BMCC Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics will host the College's Annual Academic Assessment Day on December 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in Fiterman Hall, Room 1304. This year, Assessment Day will showcase faculty work on topics related to assessment and student learning, and debut the College’s new assessment software, Tracdat. Extended Hours and Services for Finals
BMCC will provide additional computer lab hours, extended hours in study spaces, and tutoring for enrolled students through Tuesday, December 20, 2016.

Bathrooms

Two-Phase Renovation of Bathrooms in 199 Chambers Street Building Continues

A two-phase capital project to renovate the bathrooms at 199 Chambers Street is creating greater accessibility as well as upgrades. While North Side bathrooms are renovated in the first phase, the BMCC community is encouraged to use bathrooms on the South Side.
