Elizabeth M. Butson Scholarship Reception Celebrates Foundation Scholars
The Elizabeth M. Butson Scholarship Reception in Richard Harris Terrace celebrated this year’s 33 BMCC Foundation Scholars and their benefactor, BMCC Foundation Board Member Elizabeth M. Butson. Diane K. Walleser, Vice President, Enrollment Management, and Doris R. Holz, Vice President, College Development, welcomed the guests. “We owe a debt of gratitude to Elizabeth Margaritis Butson, whose dedication to providing opportunity for our students truly comes from her heart. We are fortunate to have Elizabeth as a friend and Board Member of the BMCC Foundation,” said Holz. Judith Volkmann, BMCC Foundation Board Member, and Eugene Skorodinsky, BMCC Financial Advisor to Students (they are also both MoneyWorks Liaisons) gave a Dining Etiquette Presentation for the scholars. "The dinner event was designed so students would have the chance to meet and thank their donor, Elizabeth Butson,” said Walleser. "It was also a learning opportunity where students learned how to conduct business professionally while enjoying a meal. So whether a job interview over lunch, a corporate conference or gala, our scholars will be prepared to gracefully navigate through a three-course meal.” Sussie Gyamfi, Scholarship Coordinator, closed the event with remarks on volunteering and other opportunities at BMCC.
