Women’s Herstory Month: Persist and Resist
BMCC is celebrating Women’s Herstory Month this March with the theme, Nevertheless, She Persisted. Current activism in the United States and on many college campuses, such as the Me Too movement, is reflected in the month's events, which explore speaking out, shattering the glass ceiling, disrupting the status quo and more. The month opens with a conference, Persist and Resist on March 1.

Family-Friendly Mammoth Follies Roars Into BMCC Tribeca PAC
BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center (BMCC TPAC), presents the next event in the 2017-2018 Family Theater Season: Mammoth Follies on March 10 at 1:30 p.m. Mammoth Follies explores the wonder of evolution in an old-fashioned revue of original songs, witty jokes and earth-shaking dances performed by giant dinosaur puppets.

BMCC 21st Modern Languages Colloquium Set for March 20 and March 22
The BMCC Modern Languages Department will hold its 21st annual Colloquium, March 20 and March 22. This year’s Colloquium—Narratives From the World; Books and Movies for the New Millennium—includes a series of speakers, performance and films in Theatre 2 and Room N-451 at 199 Chambers Street. The event is free and open to the public. BMCC faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend.

Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation Funds Emergency Grants  
BMCC has received funds from the Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation to offer emergency grants to eligible students facing short-term emergencies, so they can continue their college studies without interruption. Please encourage students who can demonstrate need and who are facing an unexpected emergency to apply for the Petrie Grant. Applicants will be asked to provide documentation and meet other requirements. The grants do not cover tuition costs, college debts or legal representation, but students are encouraged to visit the Single Stop office to discuss their concerns. BMCC Community Invited to African Heritage Month Closing Ceremony: February 28 The BMCC community is invited to attend the African Heritage Month Closing Ceremony on February 28 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the student cafeteria. Join an afternoon of celebration featuring a live DJ and healthy food from the African Diaspora. Also, participants can create their own piece of African art. Single Stop Offers Services to Students to Combat Food Insecurity and More   Working with other BMCC programs as well as with external partners, the BMCC Single Stop Office provides services to help students address barriers that prevent them from attending and completing school. Apply for CUNY Service Corps: Deadline March 11 Student applications for the 2018-2019 BMCC CUNY Service Corps cohort are open now through March 11. Through the CUNY Service Corps, BMCC students join projects to improve the civic, economic and environmental sustainability of communities in New York City. Service placements last 24 weeks over two semesters. Participants work 12 hours per week for $15 an hour, and in some cases, earn college credit. Let’s Talk: Counseling Center Initiative The BMCC Counseling Center now offers Let’s Talk, a drop-in service that provides students with informal and confidential consultations with counselors. Let's Talk is not a clinical service, a substitute for a regular counseling appointment, or intended for anyone needing urgent help.
