BMCC Film Festival Set for December 13
Excitement is building for the Fall 2018 BMCC Student Film Festival set for December 13 at 3 p.m. in Theater 1 at 199 Chambers Street.The competitive semi-annual event, produced by the BMCC Video Production Club, showcases student films from both BMCC and other CUNY colleges, and which range in length from 15 seconds to 20 minutes. Only films where BMCC students serve as producer, director, screenwriter or main talent—acting, music or dance—are eligible for the competition.

Amaral BMCC Librarian Participates in International OER Summit in Paris
BMCC Professor and Open Knowledge Librarian Jean Amaral was one of five representatives from CUNY invited to participate in the Open Educational Leadership Summit in Paris. The international summit was organized by the International Council for Open Distance Education, Open Education Consortium, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and the Ministry of National Education and Youth of France.
Waters BMCC Enrollment Management Services Director Elected to AACRAO Committee
Kristin Albright Waters, director of enrollment management services at BMCC, has been elected to the Nominations and Elections Committee of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), an international non-profit association of more than 11,000 higher education professionals. "As a long standing member of AACRAO, I am honored to be elected by my peers within AACRAO," said Waters.

Writers in Performance Showcase set for December 7 and 8
BMCC students Daniel Pena and Akeem "Keemz" will be among the 11-member cast directed by Mario Giacalona to culminating their 12-week participation in the Writers in Performance workshop thorugh the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, 199 Chambers Street. Tickets are free, with a suggested donation of $10, and can be bought at the door or by visiting the BMCC TPAC ticketing services in the lobby of 199 Chambers Street.

BMCC Upgrading Website, Limited Access December 15 to January 15
In early 2019, the Office of Public Affairs will launch an updated version of the BMCC website featuring a new Content Management System (CMS) to improve user experience for students, faculty, staff and the public. During this final phase of content migration, changes to the current website will be limited to those that are critical, time-sensitive and received by December 15. Then, through January 15, 2019, editorial access to department, office and faculty pages will be “frozen.” For urgent changes, please contact the Office of Public Affairs at (212) 346-8501 or publicaffairs@bmcc.cuny.edu. Once the new BMCC website is launched, department web liaisons, faculty and staff will be trained to update their department pages, faculty pages or to enter BMCC calendar events. The BMCC community's continued support and collaboration is greatly appreciated during this transition.

Call for Proposals: 2019 CUNY Faculty Diversity & Inclusion Conference
BMCC faculty are invited to submit a proposal by January 7, 2019, to present at the CUNY Faculty Diversity and Inclusion Conference, Minding the Gap: Retaining and Sustaining the Academic Community set for March 29, 2019 at the CUNY Graduate Center. Comprehensive Academic BMCC Updates Comprehensive Academic Programs Brochure
The Office of Public Affairs recently published the Academic Programs brochure which includes descriptions of all academic programs offered at BMCC. The comprehensive brochure is designed to be used by students, faculty and staff to obtain information about the degrees offered and the areas of study. Printed copies are available on campus and a downloadable pdf is available on the BMCC website.

Toy Donations Accepted for 4th Annual Toy Drive
Now through December 18, the BMCC Veterans Resource Center and the Organization for Student Veterans will be accepting donations of new toys for families in need. For more information, contact the Veterans Resource Center at (212) 220-8000 ext. 5363.
Uniqlo BMCC Concert Choir Performs at UNIQLO, December 22 and 23
The BMCC Concert Choir, comprised of BMCC music majors, has been selected by the retail clothing store Uniqlo as this year's seasonal performance group on December 22 and 23 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Uniqlo on 666 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10103. Coat BMCC Coat Drive Through December 20
BMCC students, faculty and staff are invited to donate gently used coats and other clothes as part of the 30th Annual New York Cares coat drive. Donations can be made at the Women's Resource Center in Room S-340 or in the Main Lobby at 199 Chambers Street. For more information contact the Women's Resource Center, (212) 220-8165.

Donors at least 70½ years old can take advantage of a simple way to satisfy minimum required distribution and benefit BMCC students at the same time. Donate up to $100,000 from an IRA directly to BMCC Foundation without having to pay federal income taxes.
