YOU'RE INVITED: Designing for Success Open Forum, October 16   
BMCC students, faculty and staff are invited to learn about Designing for Success at a Community Forum on October 16 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at 199 Chambers Street, Theatre 2. BMCC’s Designing for Success initiative focuses on key aspects of improving student success: teaching and learning, degree completion, equity, labor market outcomes and institutional excellence. This open forum, led by Interim President Karrin E. Wilks, will welcome dialogue on how faculty, staff and students together create conditions inside and outside the classroom enabling all students to learn and succeed.    ​​

Career Fair Opens Doors for Hundreds of Student Job Seekers 
More than 800 students and 100 employers attended the Fall 2018 Career Fair, sponsored by the BMCC Center for Career Development. Counselors helped students prepare with resume workshops and other activities. BMCC's Career Communities, linked to academic majors, helped students make a game plan for meeting employers at the event. ​   

Gerontology Program Explores Facets of Aging
The Gerontology program at BMCC gives students the opportunity to learn an interdisciplinary approach that addresses the social, psychological, biological and health-related facets of aging. This video features Professors Lisa Rose, Man Wai Alice Lun and Gloria McNamara, who share how students benefit from the program.

BMCC TPAC Presents Person Place Thing with Randy Cohen and Guest Todd Haimes The BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center (BMCC TPAC) is proud to kick off the 2018-2019 season of Person Place Thing, a podcast and radio series hosted by Randy Cohen, on October 15 at 7 p.m., in Theatre 2 at 199 Chambers Street. The show will feature Roundabout Theatre Company Artistic Director/CEO Todd Haimes (pictured left) and live music with Big Mamou. Tickets are $10 and available online, at the door and by phone at (212) 220-1460.

Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) National Test, October 3
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system on October 3. IPAWS enables authorities to send emergency messages to multiple communications networks as part of the nation's alert and warning infrastructure. The WEA test message will be sent at 2:18 p.m.; the EAS message at 2:20 p.m. Learn more.

Join the BMCC Team: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, October 14 BMCC community members, family and friends are invited to register online to join BMCC's team for the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Central Park, October 14. The team will meet 8 a.m. at West 67th Street and Central Park West on Manhattan's Upper West Side. This year’s theme, "What Unites Us, Ignites Us," celebrates survivorship and raises funds for breast cancer research, public education and patient service programs. Panther Pantry Available to Help Students The Office of Student Affairs is pleased to announce that the Panther Pantry, located in the Single Stop Office, 199 Chambers Street, Room S-230, is open Monday, 12 to 5 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hunger and food insecurity can harm a student's ability to focus and learn, and this resource provides free emergency food, as well as referrals to other resources. Starfish Early Alert System Expands
The Office of Academic Affairs has announced the expansion of Starfish, an Early Alert system that connects faculty, academic advisors and staff with students in ASAP, BLA, MECA and online courses. Office of Public Safety Offers Resources and Services The Office of Public Safety ensures a safe, secure and comfortable learning environment at BMCC through resources including free C.P.R., A.E.D. and First Aid, and Campus-Community Emergency Response Training for faculty, staff and students. Public Safety also trains staff as campus fire wardens. Bathroom Renovations in 199 Chambers Street Building BMCC has begun the next phase of its restroom renovation capital project at 199 Chambers Street. This project will provide greater accessibility and upgrades to restroom fixtures, stalls, floors, energy-saving LED ceiling lights, ventilation systems and temperature controls. MSC Health Benefits Buy-Out Waiver Program Open for 2019 BMCC employees currently enrolled in the MSC Health Benefits Program will be automatically enrolled for Plan Year 2019—unless they withdraw by completing the 2018 MSC Enrollment/Change Form and Health Benefits Application.
