BMCC Community Shares AES Strategies
Administrative, Educational and Student Supportive (AES) Assessment Day, hosted by the BMCC Office of Institutional Effectiveness and AES Assessment Committee, took place June 5 in the 13th-floor Conference Center at Fiterman Hall. Presenters from across BMCC shared assessment methods and findings with faculty and staff participants.

The 2017 CUNY Coordinated Undergraduate Education (CUE) Conference, hosted at BMCC, addressed strategies to improve student success in developmental and Gateway courses.

Aponte and Romero Participate in NCCHC Fellows Program
The National Community College Hispanic Council (NCCHC) has selected BMCC's Melissa Aponte, Assistant Director of Student Activities and Leadership; and Manny Romero, Executive Director of Public Affairs, to participate in the 2017 NCCHC Fellows Program. Aponte and Romero are part of a cohort of 22 representatives from community colleges from around the country. "Fellows gain the necessary knowledge and skills they need to lead higher education into the future and positively impact the economic and civic success of their respective communities," said Maria Harper-Marinick, NCCHC President. As Fellows, Aponte and Romero will participate in work sessions, June 7-10 at the University of San Diego; and then make formal team presentations to their colleagues and mentors during the NCCHC Symposium in Miami, September 21-23, 2017. |

Annual Retreat on Institutional Effectiveness Set for June 9 at BMCC
CUNY staff and faculty are invited to RSVP for the free CUNY Institutional Research and Assessment Councils retreat on Friday, June 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the 13th-floor Conference Center at BMCC’s Fiterman Hall, 245 Greenwich Street, NYC.
Conference on Policy and Practice of Student Affairs Planned for June 16
BMCC staff members are invited to register now for the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) Regional Conference, Friday June 16 at the BMCC main campus, 199 Chambers Street, NYC. The keynote speaker will be Thomas Bailey, George and Abby O'Neill Professor of Economics and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Professor Bailey also directs the Community College Research Center (CCRC), the Center for Analysis of Postsecondary Education and Employment (CAPSEE), and the Center for the Analysis of Postsecondary Readiness (CAPR).
Barclay Street Café: Summer Hours
This summer the Barclay Street Café on the first floor of BMCC’s Fiterman Hall will be open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Saturday and Sunday.

Summer Fridays Start June 30
BMCC’s four-day summer work week will be in effect Monday, June 26 through Friday, August 11. The College will be closed these Fridays: June 30, July 14, July 21, July 28, August 4 and August 11. The Independence Day holiday will be observed Tuesday, July 4 and during that week, all employees will work seven-hour days on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
