 BMCC and NYACH Partner to Improve Direct Support Professional Program
The New York Alliance for Careers in Healthcare (NYACH) has partnered with BMCC to enhance the college’s credit-bearing Direct Support Professional (DSP) program, which prepares individuals to provide direct care services to people with intellectual and physical disabilities. The enhanced DSP curriculum is being developed with direct input from DSP employers. NYACH and BMCC also worked to align the new curriculum with National Centers for Medicare (CMS) and New York State Office for People With Disabilities (NYS OPWD) recommendations.
President Perez Delivers State of the College Address
BMCC President Antonio Pérez presented his annual State of the College Address to the college community on Tuesday, March 8 in Theatre 2 on the college’s main campus. Students, faculty and staff filled the theatre’s tiered seating and the President covered BMCC’s milestones, new initiatives and achievements reached in the past year. In his remarks, President Perez summarized BMCC’s 2015-2020 Strategic Plan, Reaching Greater Levels. Over 100 faculty, staff and administrators have formed working committees to address five strategic priorities that impact on students’ college readiness,overall experience, timely degree completion and workforce development, as well as the BMCC’s sustainability as an institution.

The Veterans Resource Center is proud to help U.S. veterans who are continuing their education at BMCC. The quality of services provided by BMCC have earned the college the distinction of “Military Friendly School.” BMCC is also a featured college on the GIJobs.com website. |

Women’s Herstory Month Offers a Variety of Events
Women’s Herstory Month at BMCC is scheduled from March 1 through April 12. Featured events include panel discussions, films, live performances, workshops and readings. The month-long celebration was kicked-off with the day-long conference, Women and Power 2016 on March 2. |

8th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon Scheduled March 16
BMCC staff and faculty are welcome to attend the 8th Annual St. Patrick's Day Luncheon to benefit the BMCC Student Emergency Fund on Wednesday, March 16 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Richard Harris Terrace. The traditional Irish corned-beef-and-cabbage luncheon will feature Irish dancing and music as well as door prizes. Admission is $25 pre-paid by March 14 and $30 at the door. Faculty Encouraged to Participate in NEH-funded Faculty Development Program
BMCC faculty are encouraged to participate in “Cultivating Global Competencies in a Diverse World,” a faculty development program funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Selected applicants will receive stipends of $1,000 for their work in professional development and curriculum enhancement in Summer/Fall 2016 (both Summer Intensive Cohort and Fall Regular Cohort are available), as well as $250 for their work in curriculum implementation and program dissemination in Spring 2017. Application deadline is May 2. Learn more.

BMCC Express Coming Soon
BMCC is creating a more convenient way for students and the community to receive information and services about the College and its programs — BMCC Express! This one-stop center is set to open soon in the Murray Building located at 255 Greenwich Street. BMCC Express is a centralized information stop to get quick assistance with a variety of services including Academic Programs, Admissions, Advisement, Bursar, Continuing Education and Workforce Development, Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Services and more. Students and visitors will have access to six self-help computer stations and one-on-one consultation for questions that need more attention. |

The BMCC Fitness Center enhances the learning environment by providing programs, services and facilities that promote healthy lifestyles, build community and foster student success. The Center is open to all members of the BMCC community. |
Summer Tuition Waivers
BMCC will offer Summer 2016 tuition waivers for courses counting toward degree completion to eligible, matriculating BMCC students who are New York State residents (U.S. citizen or permanent resident). Each eligible student may use no more than one tuition waiver in the summer session starting May 31, and no more than one tuition waiver in the summer session starting July 19. Learn more. |
