The Women’s Resource Center seeks to foster a supportive environment for all students, faculty, and staff who identify as members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) community.
We are proud to be part of various LGBTQ+ resources, committees, councils, and initiatives both at BMCC and in CUNY. We actively participate in Pride Month and provide year round educational programs and events relating to LGBTQ+ identities for the general community, as well as programs and services for folks who identify within the community. For more details check out our list of Programs and Events or view our calendar to see what is coming up.
The Safe Zone Program, overseen by Student Affairs is BMCC’s LGBTQ+ advocacy group and program through which faculty and staff are trained as allies. The WRC is part of this group and assists with the Safe Zone training which trains allies to listen, empathize and advocate for the awareness of LGBTQ+ students. The program was developed as a direct response to the violence and discrimination faced by members of the LGBTQ+ community both on and off campus.
