About Us

Women's Resource Center staff

Our Mission

The Social Justice & Equity Centers have an overarching mission that is shared across the Women’s Resource Center, Pride Center and MultiCultural Center, and is supported by each of the centers’ individual missions.

The Women’s Resource Center mission is to support and serve the entire BMCC community, regardless of sex or gender, with a focus on issues faced by women identified students in all their diversity, and the role of allies. Using intersectional feminism and social justice, we provide programs, resources and advocacy for and about women’s experiences, gender equity, and anti-gender based violence to empower all students in their academic, personal, and professional growth.

Shared Social Justice and Equity Vision

The  Women’s Resource Center shares an overarching Social Justice & Equity Centers vision across the Women’s Resource Center, Pride Center and MultiCultural Center.

The Social Justice & Equity Centers envision an intersectional, equitable, and socially-just world free from patriarchy, violence, harassment, gender, sexuality, and racial discrimination, prejudice, inequity, and injustice.  We picture a community where all students can unapologetically be their intersectional selves, reach their maximum potential, and thrive at BMCC and beyond.

Values

The Women’s Resource Center shares the overarching values of the Social Justice & Equity Centers and also upholds values specific to the Women’s Resource Center. Everything we do incorporates one or more of our shared Social Justice & Equity Centers values and Women’s Resource Center values; they are the foundation of our work, approach, and philosophy.
