Student Success fosters the growth and development of continuing students at BMCC to prepare them for graduation, transfer and career success. We offer co-curricular opportunities and provide personal and academic support to students on academic notice, high achieving students, DREAMers, financial literacy cohorts and more. We partner with offices across the College to help students solve problems, celebrate successes and take ownership of their BMCC experience.
Student Success works with BMCC students in the following groups:
Achievers – are a high-achieving student cohort. Student Success celebrates the achievements of Achievers and advises them about next steps academically and professionally.
TheDream.US Scholars – are youth who came to this country at a very young age without documentation and are now assisted with college expenses by TheDream.US Scholarship. Student Success connects Dreamers with resources on campus and provides scholarship and academic advisement.
Excelsior Scholars– The Excelsior Scholarship, in combination with other student financial aid programs, allows students to attend a SUNY or CUNY college tuition-free. Student Success provides Excelsior scholarshiop recipients with support and guidance as needed.
Readmitted Students – Student Success supports returning students in their first term back at BMCC.
Second Chance Students –The Second Chance Program at BMCC gives students with low GPAs an opportunity to explain their academic history and request special admission.
