About Us

Our Mission

The Social Justice & Equity Centers (SJEC) has an overarching mission that is shared across the Pride Center, Women’s Resource Center and MultiCultural Center, and is supported by each of the centers individual missions.

The mission of the Pride Center (PC) is to support and serve students of diverse gender identities, sexual orientations and expressions within the LGBTQIA+ community as well as to educate allies, regardless of identity. We celebrate the identities and lived experience of the queer community, and advocate for the needs and interest of our LGBTQIA+ students to achieve connection, social support, and an enhanced sense-of-self-identity. The Price Center also works to foster allyship and educate the BMCC campus about the LGBTQIA+ community to create a sense of belonging and positive culture.

Shared SJEC Vision

The Pride Center shares an overarching SJEC vision across the Women’s Resource Center, Pride Center and MultiCultural Center.

The SJEC envisions an intersectional, equitable, and socially-just world free from patriarchy, violence, harrassment, gender, sexuality, and racial discrimination, prejudice, inequty, and injustice.  We picture a community where all students can unapologetically be their intersectional selves, reach their maximum potential, and thrive at BMCC and beyond.

Our Values

The Pride Center shares the overarching values of the SJEC and also upholds values specific to the PC. Everything we do incorporates one or more of our SJEC and PC values; they are the foundation of our work, approach, and philosophy.

  • Safe and Brave Space
  • Authenticity and Self Love
  • Community Building and Connection
