Students must meet the following eligibility requirements to be able to apply for the program:
- Be working toward a degree at one of the participating CUNY colleges
- Be enrolled full-time (at least 12-credits) in the spring semester and plan to enroll full-time during the following fall semester (academic year)
- Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5
- Have earned at least 18 college credits
- Have addressed any remedial education needs prior to beginning fall classes
- Have the proper work authorization required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
Once students meet the program’s criteria, follow these steps to guide you successfully through the application process:
Before Selection
Attend an information session to learn the program requirements and gain an extra point on application.
Complete online application between December and March. Follow-up with recommenders (high school guidance counselor, past or current supervisor, advisor, professor, etc.) to complete online recommendation letter before March.
If invited, attend group interview in April (attend individual interview if required).
During Selection
Create/Update resume and letter of intention. Attend welcome meeting to create database profile, as well as, to search and apply for positions.
Attend CUNY Research Foundation on-boarding session to submit work authorization documents and learn timesheet submission process.
Participate in the Matching Fair Preparation Workshop to prepare for the Matching Fair. Attend the Matching Fairs in June and interview with community partners.
Select and rank the top eight community partners you would like for placement site.
Complete 14-hours of training in late August and in early September.
After Selection
Confirm work schedule of 12-hours with placement site and start date.
RSVP to complete service project and complete monthly workshops; attend schedule touchpoint.
