History
CUNY Service Corps was launched in 2013 in response to neighborhood needs that came to light after Hurricane Sandy. Since its launch in August of 2013, CUNY Service Corps members have completed over 750,000 hours of service to NYC at over 150 nonprofits and government agencies in all 5 boroughs. BMCC continues to be one of the eight participating campuses and only community college in the program.
Mission
CUNY Service Corps at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) supports the mission of the College and the City University of New York by administering and expanding CUNY Service Corps’ components, training, recruiting, and student employment functions through comprehensive planning, management, and assessment. CUNY Service Corps at BMCC works in partnership with faculty, administrators, and staff members across various home and partner campus and University offices, as well as, external community partners to organize meaningful opportunities for students.
