“text/ure” brings together a number of artists whose work shares an intricate, process-oriented approach to mark-making. Some of the pieces in this exhibition are explicitly textual in their choice of expression, while others are more ambiguous and imply text through their suggestively narrative structures. The artist included here celebrated texture and material. Whether in the form of drawings, sculptural drawing or installations that can be experienced as spatial drawings, this exhibition invites the viewer to “read” the work as marks of expression open to multi-layered interpretation, while luxuriating in an experience of precisely-chosen materials and process. The exhibition brings together work that employs often work that employs often inscrutable script to respond to the irresistible lure of the legible.
