Message from the Interim President to Faculty, Staff and Students (04/01/20)

Dear BMCC Community,

While we continue the urgent work of protecting our families and communities, April 1st is National Census Day, a reminder of the importance of being counted.

Responding to the U.S. Census is our opportunity to address a wide variety of important public needs – from disaster planning, to education, transportation and public health. The census determines how many congressional representatives we have and how the federal government allocates more than $675 billion a year. The voices for our communities and the funding our city relies on will be jeopardized unless we all – every household – respond to the census.

Complete the 2020 Census online or by phone and eliminate the need for a census worker to visit your home, which is safer for everyone.

I want to thank our BMCC students who were among the 270 from CUNY trained to work across the city and now through social media to encourage completion of the census, which is so critical to our city’s future.

We have only one chance each decade to get this right. Complete the census now. Let’s do our part to be counted and ensure that BMCC is an active participant in this important effort. As always, please take good care of yourself, your families and those around you.
