National Search for Senior VP of Academic Affairs and Provost

Dear BMCC Community,

I write to share an important announcement regarding our academic leadership. We are grateful for the significant contributions of Dr. Erwin Wong, who recently retired as our Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. His leadership and dedication have left an indelible mark on our college, and while we are saddened by his departure, we are excited to engage all of you—our valued stakeholders—in the search for his successor. We have embarked on a national search to fill the role of Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost—a vital leadership position in driving our institution’s mission forward.

To ensure we identify the most qualified candidate for this crucial appointment, a Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued for the services of an Executive Search Firm to assist in the recruitment of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. After a rigorous and competitive review process, we have retained the services of Academic Search, a firm with a proven track record in higher education that has conducted over 2,400 successful executive searches in the past five years. Academic Search specializes in customized searches that are tailored to meet the unique needs of institutions like BMCC.

Institutionally, as we seek to find a new member of the senior leadership team, earning the buy-in from the college community by gathering feedback and hearing your concerns and wishes will be key to a successful search and appointment. Therefore, we will be hosting a series of listening sessions (Zoom invite to follow) on Monday, November 18, Tuesday, November 19, and Wednesday, November 20. Please refer to the schedule below:

Thank you for your continued support.
