We’re Wireless – BMCC’s Campus Zips into the Twenty-First Century

October 7, 2005

The Computer Center spent the summer running wires and setting up antennas to turn Borough of Manhattan Community College into a wireless campus. Now it is possible to receive wireless Internet access inside and outside of the main Chambers Street building and throughout the Murray Street annex on any laptop or personal digital assistant PDA equipped with a WiFi/802.11b wireless network adapter. The adapter is standard in most high-end laptops and available separately in most computer stores for approximately $50. Computers or wireless devices must also provide a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape, in order to log in to the wireless network.

Connecting to the Network is easy. To find out how, go to www.bmcc.cuny.edu/wireless/policy.
