Richard T. Kennedy, President of BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center’s Board of Directors, passed away on May 15.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center Board President, Richard T. Kennedy, on Sunday, May 15, 2016. Mr. Kennedy served on the Tribeca PAC board of directors since 1998 and became president in 2001.

As President of our Board of Directors, he led us through a decade and a half of challenging obstacles, and with his support we overcame them. Richard T. Kennedy served as a SeniorDirector of Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. and had over 25 years of experience representing the interests of both owners and tenants of commercial office space. Richard served as the lead team member of some of the most significant public and private sector transactions negotiated by C&W in the downtown market, while being actively involved in the Lower Manhattan community. 

Mr. Kennedy was also a founding board member of the Alliance for Downtown New York, Inc. as well as Vice Chairman of its sister organization, the Downtown Lower Manhattan Association. Mr. Kennedy served on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of New York Downtown Hospital. Richard also served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer for the South Street Seaport Museum, on the Board of Trustees for the Conservancy for Historic Battery Park and on the Board of Directors for the Governors Island Alliance.
