Mohammad K. Alam Named Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management

Mohammad K. Alam, who has served as Senior Registrar at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) since 2013, will assume the role of Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management Services, effective March 1.

In his new role, Mr. Alam will oversee the College’s one-stop and other student intake services for the Offices of the Registrar, Financial Aid and Admissions. He will provide leadership to ensure that students are receiving the best possible service, that staff is updated on procedures, best practices and new technology, and that college enrollment initiatives are successfully implemented.

Mr. Alam will report to Acting Vice President of Enrollment Management Sanjay Ramdath, and brings decades of hands-on experience and response to his new role as Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management Services.

After joining BMCC in 2007 as Registrar, Mr. Alam was promoted to the role of Senior Registrar. In that capacity, he managed all facets of the operations of the Registrar’s Office, including student registration and records, class schedules, room reservations, graduation, enrollment verification, transcripts, readmission, veteran certification and more.

Other areas of responsibility have included serving as Chair of the Registration Taskforce Committee, supervising a team of 59 staff members, coordinating DegreeWorks, serving as the College’s certifying official reporting to the National Student Clearinghouse, serving as the College’s FERPA compliance officer, and more.

Before joining BMCC, Mr. Alam held the position of Assistant Registrar at Kingsborough Community College and worked as CUNYCAP in the Office of the Registrar/Enrollment Management at Bronx Community College, where he also taught a range of computer courses.

At the national level, Mr. Alam served as a steering committee member in the Middle States Association of Collegiate Registrars and Officers of Admission and has spoken at conferences on topics such as Project Management on a Large Scale and Implementing a Degree Audit System.
