JUNGHEE LEE TO GIVE VALEDICTORY ADDRESS AT BOROUGH OF MANHATTAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE COMMENCEMENT, MAY 31

May 20, 2002

Brooklyn resident Junghee Lee will deliver the valedictory address at Borough of Manhattan Community College’s commencement ceremony this year. BMCC’s Commencement will take place on May 31 at 11:30 a.m. in the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Lee, a native of South Korea, is graduating with a 4.0 average in computer science.

While growing up in South Korea, Junghee Lee developed an interest in computer science. But at the time, the job market was weak, and there was no immediate future for someone in the computer science field. So Lee took what he considered to be a practical route and received his bachelor’s degree in engineering. After he graduated, he worked as a structural engineer in South Korea. Then the economy went sour, and he found himself unemployed.

Lee visited New York to see his girlfriend from South Korea who was studying at a college in the city. They married, and Lee decided to pursue his love of computer science. He found the computer science program at BMCC a perfect match, and he received straight A’s in all his course work.

After graduation, Lee will continue his studies in computer science at Polytechnic University.

He lives on Washington Avenue in Brooklyn.
