Financial Management and Digital Marketing Programs Address Talent Gap

November 28, 2017

Starting Spring 2018, Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) will offer an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree program in both Financial Management and Digital Marketing.

“Both programs respond to our students’ goal to enter the fields of business and finance with highly competitive skills,” says Mahatapa Palit, Chair of the Business Management Department. “Our Digital Marketing program will also address the talent gap that exists today, as companies seek candidates in that area.”

Financial management is another in-demand field that BMCC students are keenly interested in, Palit says, “and that program will provide a base from which they can specialize, as they prepare for lucrative careers overseeing the financial health of an organization.”

Each of the new programs will articulate with Bachelor of Arts programs at The City College of New York, CUNY. Financial Management graduates will be eligible to enter the Economics and Business program, with a specialization in Finance. Digital Marketing graduates will be eligible to enter the Advertising and Public Relations Program of the Media and Communication Arts Department.

“Another benefit to students is that BMCC is located in lower Manhattan, and this is the hub for the worlds of finance and marketing,” Palit says. “Opportunities for internships and interacting with those industries will give our students an advantage as they begin their networking and exploring various fields.”
