Faculty Artists Featured in Upcoming Exhibition “Internal Logic,” at Shirley Fiterman Art Center

The Shirley Fiterman Art Center (SFAC) at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) is pleased to announce “Internal Logic,” an upcoming exhibition of work by faculty artists from BMCC’s Music and Art and Media Arts and Technology Departments.

The BMCC community is invited to attend a reception for “Internal Logic” on Tuesday, February 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the SFAC. The exhibition will be on view through March 22.

“Internal Logic” will showcase the range of works produced by BMCC’s talented and diverse faculty artists. It will offer an overview of contemporary art practices and provide insight into a range of artmaking processes and techniques.

Mediums on view will include painting, sculpture, installation art, works on paper, experimental photography, video and works employing new media.

The featured faculty artists are Aisha Tandiwe Bell, Tess Bilhartz, Anthony Bloch, Erik den Breejen, Bernardo Justin Sanhueza-Campoy, Hector Canonge, Simon Carr, Cathy Diamond, Carlo Diego, Heather E. Dunn, Louis Esposito, Janet Esquirol, Pat Genova, Xico Greenwald,Sarah Haviland, Jayne Holsinger, Xiaorui Huang, Thea Lanzisero, Susan Leopold, Christine Mariani, Bez Vise and Amaia Marzabal, Siobhan McBride, Burt Miller, Patrick Carlin Mohundro, Lisa Nicchi, Carol Pereira-Olson, Anna Pinkas, Ada Potter, Thaddeus Radell, Jessica Ramirez, Kimberly Reinhardt, Owen Roberts, Ryan Seslow, Andrew L. Shea, Marianna Trofimova and Alizabeth Towery.

The BMCC Music and Art Department offers one Music program and two Art Foundations programs: Art History and Studio Art. Art majors choose concentrations in drawing, painting, photography, sculpture and digital imaging. Graduates have completed the fundamental training required for successful transfer to four-year colleges.

The BMCC Media Arts and Technology (MEA) Department offers three programs: Animation and Motion Graphics, Multimedia Programming and Design and Video Arts and Technology.

MEA majors complete a dynamic education in the fields of digital design and communication technology. Their areas of focus include computer graphics, web design, programming for games and animation, storytelling in HD video and other concentrations reflecting the future of media in a post-digital age.

The Shirley Fiterman Art Gallery is located on the first floor of Fiterman Hall. Visitors can use the 81 Barclay Street entrance to view the Gallery on Wednesday through Saturday, from 12 to 5 p.m. and by appointment. Learn more here.
