Chromatic Space Opens in the Shirley Fiterman Art Center, September 22

September 7, 2016

Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) presents a new exhibition, Chromatic Space, with an opening on Thursday, September 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Shirley Fiterman Art Center.

The exhibition is curated by Jonathan D. Lippincott and features artists from American Abstract Artists (AAA), a non-profit organization that has contributed to the development and acceptance of abstract art since its founding in 1936.

According to Lippincott, Chromatic Space “seeks to illuminate the ways that artists use color in their work to explore the possibilities of depth, motion, scale and atmosphere. Dialogues of translucence and opacity, movement and stasis, surface and depth are played out through the use of color in the work of different abstract artists.”

Art will be available for sale at the event, with proceeds benefiting the BMCC Foundation Scholarship Fund. For more information, call the Shirley Fiterman Art Center at (212) 776-6237.

The exhibition features the following current and past members of AAA, as well as invited guests:
