BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center Presents Ustad Shafaat Khan

BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the longest operating performance venue in lower Manhattan, proudly presents Ustad Shafaat Khan, world-renowned Indian Classical musician, on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. 

Ustad Shafaat Khan has performed worldwide from India to Japan. He has shared a television performance with Ray Charles in Germany and recently performed alongside Stevie Wonder at the Bonaroo Festival — one of the largest music festivals in the U.S.

In addition, some of his CDs have been produced by the famous Dr. Deepak Chopra. His unique concert presentations include Indian classical and folk music on sitar, tabla and vocal; Sufi-inspired compositions and a multicultural fusion ranging from western classical, jazz and rock to pop, flamenco and African rhythms.

Critical acclaim for Ustad Shafaat Khan includes praise in The Times, London: “The tabla … was absolutely superb … evoked spontaneous applause …”; The Washington Post: “Virtuoso … classical purity … astonishing” and Chandigarh Tribune, India: “Star in the world of classical music … the thunderous ovation never ceased throughout his performance.”

At the event, Ustad Shafaat Khan will perform vocals and on sitar and tabla. He will be joined by  Zaineb Ainuddi on dilruba; Rishi Mehrotr on tabla; Barry Sames on keyboard and Nick Vacante on guitar.
