BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center Presents A Night of Female Comics

The Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) Tribeca Performing Arts Center (BMCC TPAC) will host its annual evening of laughter on Friday, March 10 at 8:00 p.m. with acclaimed headline local comedian Leighann Lord and an additional all-female lineup of comedians Kerry Coddett, Carole Montgomery, and Lori Sommer. Tickets are $21 each or $11 for students. Additionally, buyers can take advantage of the TPAC “Spotlight 5 Deal” — purchase five (or more) tickets for only $15 each. Performances are held at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, Theatre I, at the college’s main campus, 199 Chambers Street (between Greenwich Street and West Street).

Bios:

Leighann Lord is frequently heard on XM-Sirius Satellite Radio and appeared on many stand-up comedy shows including Girls Night Out, The Original Def Comedy All Star Jam, and Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen to name a few. As a comedic commentator, Leighann has pulled pundit duty on VH1, Fox News, and MSNBC giving her informed and funny take on politics, world news and current events. Leighann has performed several times at TPAC in previous stand-up events, as well as the most recent Writers-in-Performance presentation.

Kerry Coddett is a New York- based comedian, actress, and writer. Born and raised in Brooklyn to Caribbean parents, Kerry draws comedic inspiration from her colorful surroundings and offers a perspective that is both irreverent and insightful. Kerry can be seen as a cast member on MTV’s Joking Off. She’s also appeared on Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and Why?, Huffington Post Live and Essence Live. She has performed at the New York Comedy Festival, Brooklyn Comedy Festival and Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival. She has been a guest co-host on The Young Turks. Kerry has performed stand up at the New York Comedy Festival, The Brooklyn Comedy Festival and the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival and she’s also the host of Brooklyn, Stand Up!!, a monthly stand up comedy show that has been listed in The Village Voice and the New York Times. She has also written and starred in her own sketch comedy web series, The Coddett Project.

With over 2 dozen television credits to her name, Carole Montgomery is a respected veteran of the standup comedy scene nationwide. In addition to her numerous tv appearances, Carole has headlined clubs & colleges across the USA and starred in 2 different Las Vegas production shows. In her ten years as a Las Vegas star, it is estimated that she has been seen by over 5 million audience members. Besides being a comedian and writer, Carole is a wife and mother. She’s been married for 30 years and has a 23 year old son, Layne. She was Vice-President of her son’s school PTA and helped coach his Little League team for 7 years. She is now dealing with an adult son leaving home, her Peter Pan husband and living with her mother-in-law. The jokes write themselves. Though her onstage persona and offstage homelife would seem to be on opposite sides of the spectrum, she juggles both with ease.

Lori Sommer has been entertaining audiences for years. Before comedy, she traveled the world as a dancer for artists such as Mariah Carey, Jay Z and Eve – to name a few. For the past ten years, Lori has taken the New York comedy scene by storm. She has been featured in all of the top NYC clubs, including Stand Up NY, The Broadway Comedy Club, Laugh Lounge, The Duplex and Gotham Comedy Club. Her passion for the artistry of comedy has gone beyond the stage. She is a teacher who finds much joy in helping fellow comedians. Lori is also a founding member of The Hyperion Theatre Project, as well as its Company Manager. She is a founding member of The Red Tie Mafia Improv Troupe, in residency at the world-renown Gotham Comedy Club and The Living Theatre, NYC. Her life experiences, observations, and quick wit will sometimes shock you, but always make you smile.
