BMCC Recognizes Outstanding Accounting Students

Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY), recognized the outstanding academic performance of 40 graduating students at an award ceremony hosted by BMCC’s Accounting Department on May 31. Each of the students graduated BMCC with at least a 3.75 GPA in their accounting coursework. Six students; Abdel Aziz Kamagate, Cassandra Galban, Ilya Ratner, Maryna Kagan, Jose Acevedo and Yingshi Tan maintained a 4.0 in their accounting courses.

Accounting Professor Joel Barker, who organized the event, said the ceremony was designed to celebrate outstanding achievement in accounting. He praised the awardees’ abilities to master the complex language and terminology of accounting. “Today we congratulate you as you continue along your academic journey,” said Barker.

Senior Vice President and Provost Karrin Wilks told the students recognized at the event that they had joined a very distinguished club. “You make us very proud,” she said. 

Erwin Wong, Dean for Academic Programs and Instruction and Marva Craig, Vice President for Student Affairs also congratulated the students for their outstanding achievements.

In addition to the six students who maintained a 4.0 GPA in their accounting courses, the following students maintainted a 3.75 GPA and received certificates of recognition at the ceremony: Anna Lobakova, Taymuraz Khugaev, Xiu Chen, Antehrobelle Kodia, Rubal Shrestha, Jeannette Rios, Tahmina Mina, Mohammad Hossain, Ivana Boruta, Juan Hua He, Dani Boen, Rabi Mukherjee, Hai Lee, Lili Li, Cuifeng Li, Yujin Jun, Benson Weekes, Dipankor Saha, Karen Poon, Nelson Colon Hernandez, Firuza Ganieva, Illiyna Vasileva, Tsering Dhondup, Huilian Chen, Kame Bissessar, Jonathon Yee, Zeran Li, Qiaodan Li, Xin Guo, Jennifer Tenezaca, Nianqing He, Rida Zia, Kerrolyn Greenland and Evelyn Lucero.
