BOROUGH OF MANHATTAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE OFFERS NEW SERIES OF CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

Borough of Manhattan Community College is introducing a new Senior Renaissance Series of Adult and Continuing Education programs this spring.
The weeklong, daytime courses offer senior citizens an opportunity to explore a variety of topics from memoir writing to oil painting.
“We have a number of senior citizens in the neighborhood, particularly in Independence Plaza, and we wanted to offer them a variety of courses,” said Acte Maldonado, dean of adult and continuing education.
Courses in the Senior Renaissance Series include:
- Introduction to the PC for Seniors, 4 sessions, April 21–24, 1–4 p.m., $125.
- Introduction to Yoga for Seniors, 4 sessions, April 21–24, 9 a.m.–12 p.m.,$45.
- Stop Aging, Start Training, 4 sessions, April 21–24, 2–4 p.m., $35.
- Introduction to Oil Painting, 8 Sundays, March 2–April 27, 1–3 p.m., $180.
- Drawing Workshop, 6 Sundays, March 2–April 6, 12–3 p.m., $120.
- Floral Design, 5 Sundays, March 2–March 30, 1–4 p.m., $95.
- Preserving Your Legacy: Memoir Writing for Beginners, 6 sessions, April 16–24, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., $195.
- Long Term Care, Is it Right for You? 1 session, April 23, 6:30–8:30 p.m.,$10.
In addition to the courses in the Senior Renaissance Series, senior citizens are invited to sign up for any course in the Adult and Continuing Education at a 10 percent discount. Most of the Senior Renaissance classes are offered during spring break when there are no classes for degree-seeking students.
