BMCC Honors Employees for Decades of Service

June 12, 2019

Civil and classified staff at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) were recognized for their years of service with a luncheon on June 12 in Richard Harris Terrace at 199 Chambers Street.

Opening remarks were delivered by Vice President for Legal Affairs and Faculty and Staff Relations Robert E. Diaz, who pointed out that many employees spend more time at BMCC than at home. “We look forward to this celebration every year,” he said.

Interim President Karrin E. Wilks also greeted the attendees and spoke as part of the program.

“This is a time for us to get together and recognize those being honored, but also to recognize all of the contributions and dedication of our civil service employees,” Wilks said. “Our highest priority is to improve student success and we can’t do that unless every member of this community participates. That’s part of what we’re celebrating today — the contributions of every member of this community in terms of making students feel welcome, that they belong and that they can succeed.”

The awards were presented by Diaz as well as by Interim Vice President and Provost Erwin J. Wong; Vice President for Student Affairs Marva Craig; Assistant Vice President, Campus Facilities Jorge E. Yafar; Vice President for Information Technology Joseph Spadaro; Executive Director, Manhattan Education Opportunity Center Executive Director Anthony Watson, and Vice President for Enrollment Management Diane Walleser.
