BMCC Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development Scholarship Program Celebrates Graduates

Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development celebrated students who completed their certified Allied Health and Technology certification programs during a February 28 ceremony at the 25 Broadway campus.

Dr. Terry Kidd, Acting Assistant Vice President of Continuing Education and Workforce Development also delivered remarks.

Both of the programs are made possible through a New York Community Trust (NYCT)-funded scholarship grant that covers 80 percent of tuition for eligible New Yorkers.

Graduates of the programs are equipped with vital skills and certifications that enable them to launch careers in high demand job spaces or pursue higher education opportunities. The BMCC program is diverse, offering certification tracks in Allied Health and Technology, designed to equip students with the credentials necessary for success in high-demand industries.

“Among the program’s offerings are certification courses, career development workshops, personalized case management, and job recommendations,” according to Steven Nunez, Acting Director of Apprenticeship programs at the BMCC Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development.

“These key components ensure that students are fully supported throughout their educational journey, from enrollment to post-program success,” said Nunez. “The celebration event is a testament to the hard work and perseverance of the students, as well as the strong support system provided by BMCC.”

Among the courses offered in the Allied Health track are Central Processing, Hemodialysis, and Medical Billing & Coding. The Technology track provides training in CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA, and ISC2 Cybersecurity.

Graduates from the IT programs can matriculate to receive Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) for an Associates degree in Computer Information Systems.

Acting Assistant Vice President of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, Dr. Terry Kidd, said healthcare and information technology will continue to be high demand job areas.

“We look forward to building more programs that offer certifications and new opportunities to all the students who want to build a better life,” said Dr. Kidd. “The certification is the start of something big, something great that they can continue to pursue and complete.”
