BMCC Celebrates Employee Appreciation Awardees at In-Person Ceremony

Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) hosted the College’s sixth annual Employee Appreciation Awards on June 10 in Richard Harris Terrace at 199 Chambers Street. The event, which featured a hot lunch buffet, was the first in-person Employee Appreciation Award ceremony in two years. The ceremony was emceed by Office of Public Affairs Executive Director Manny Romero.

Featured speakers included Student Affairs Vice President Marva Craig and BMCC President Anthony E. Munroe who thanked BMCC staff for their strength and resilience throughout the past two years.

“At BMCC, we are committed to cultivating not only a culture of care, but a culture of appreciation that celebrates out employees’ achievements and contributions throughout the year,” said President Munroe. “BMCC’s Employee Appreciation program is an opportunity to give a shout out to your peers for their talent and their ability to go above and beyond everyday tasks and responsibilities.”

The BMCC Employee Appreciation Awards are presented to full- and part-time administrative and/or support and service staff members who are nominated in appreciation of their overall quality of work and dedication to the College. Eligible staff levels include: Civil Service series (including Provisional); College Assistants; Research Foundation employees; Gittleson (COA, CSA, CAA); and HEO Title Series.

The 2021-22 Employee Appreciation Award Winners are:

Leadership AwardLuis Mendez (Financial Aid)

Team Achievement Award—Registrar’s Office

Inspiration Award— Sussie Gyamfi (Student Affairs), Harry Mars (Student Activities) and Theresa Wade (Office of Diversity)

Innovation/Technology Award—Lisa White (Media Center)

Rookie of the Year Award—Rhea Francis (Internships and Experiential Learning)
