On September 15, a celebration in Theater 2 at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) honored the achievements of 74 individuals planning careers in emergency response.
These included graduates of the Paramedic program in the Allied Health Sciences department, who earned an Associate of Applied Sciences (A.A.S.) degree.
It also included current students in the Paramedic degree program, as well as high school seniors dual-enrolled in BMCC’s Paramedic degree program, both of which earned EMT certifications through the BMCC Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development.
BMCC Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Erwin J. Wong welcomed the graduates and their family and friends.
Paramedic Program Director Meghan Williams and Acting Dean, Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development Anthony Watson delivered remarks.
Joseph Cutrone, Manager at Global Medical Response, presented co-valedictorian awards, and Marc Moorer and Khalid Islam, professors in the BMCC Paramedic degree program, presented the EMT certificates.
The event’s guest speaker was Ryan P. Greenberg, Director of the New York State EMS Bureau. The Oath of Geneva was led by Dr. Diane Sixsmith, Medical Director of the BMCC Paramedic degree program. Provost Wong conferred the A.A.S. in Paramedic degrees and delivered closing remarks.
