Assistant Director Aleksandra Cataruzolo Joins BMCC Office of Sponsored Programs

The Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) Office of Sponsored Programs welcomes Development Manager/Assistant Director of Grants Aleksandra Cataruzolo.

Most recently, Cataruzolo served as program administrator for the Professional Staff Congress-City University of New York (PSC-CUNY) Research Grants at the Research Foundation. In that role she managed award administration across all CUNY senior and community colleges and was the direct contact person for about 1,400 PSC-CUNY Awardees.

As development manager/assistant director of grants at BMCC, Cataruzolo will serve as the liaison between the CUNY Research Foundation and BMCC. She will communicate government and private grant application guidelines to the BMCC community and review proposal submissions, as well as conduct workshops for faculty and staff on grants management.

Cataruzolo will also support the Office of Sponsored Programs in maintaining contacts with federal, state and local funding sponsors. She will monitor regulations of funding agencies to ensure that all required procedures are in place at the college, and monitor expenditures of grant funds to ensure compliance with funding regulations.

Cataruzolo earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Arizona State University. She also earned a certificate in Sales and Marketing Essentials at the university’s W.P. Carey School of Business.

After joining the Research Foundation in 2015, Cataruzolo moved from Chief Counsel and Secretary of the Board, to Senior Program Assistant, to Program Administrator.

The Office of Sponsored Programs assists faculty and staff with the search for external funding. This includes negotiating awards, facilitating post-award project management and ensuring that submitted proposals conform to sponsor guidelines and University policies and procedures.
