A dedication ceremony and reception celebrating the new Derfner Foundation Communication Center was held recently on BMCC’s main campus.

BMCC President Antonio Pérez, Provost Karrin Wilks and others extended a special thanks to the Derfner Foundation and Jay Lieberman, trustee. Gratification was also expressed by professors Hollis Glaser, chair, and Lee Ritchey of the BMCC Speech, Communications and Theatre Arts department, who were involved in the Communication Center from its inception.

Students using the Derfner Foundation Communication Center will be able to work at soundproof computer carrels or in groups. They will take part in linguistic exercises, discussions and lectures, building lifelong tools to use in job interviews and throughout their academic careers.

A highlight of the event was a video in which BMCC students thank Jay Lieberman in their native languages.
