Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework.

Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories.

Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials.

Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards.

Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities.

Manages equipment and materials inventories.


The Computer Information Systems department at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) invites applications for a College Laboratory

Technician position starting Spring 2018.

The Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) is an integral part of City University of New York system with the largest college enrollment in the system of over 27,000 students. It is strategically located in downtown Manhattan in close proximity to the artistic communities of Tribeca and SoHo, the dynamic downtown financial district, and the center of New York City government at City Hall.

Our students come from the New York City area, and all over the world. An international college, BMCC has students from over 155 countries, who speak a variety of languages.

The CLT will provide technology support in all computer lab facilities, including setup of desktop profiles for user account management, daily maintenance and repair of hardware and software, and mapping of drivers and printers; ensure equipment and services meet instructional needs; make sure the system/applications and security measure are updated.

In addition, the CLT must be able to troubleshoot and address a wide-range of computer related issues including but not limited to computer/printer/software/hardware/configuration problems.

Evenings/Weekends will be required.



High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience.

Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.


A Bachelor’s Degree in IT related field is preferred
