Brenda K.  Vollman

Brenda Vollman earned a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice jointly from the CUNY Graduate Center and John Jay College in 2011. Her doctoral research focused on sex offending and identity management in an institutional setting, and her dissertation is nested within The Causes and Context of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Catholic Priests in the United States, 1950 – 2010, on which she was a Research Associate. She is currently writing a book, Prodigal Sons (November 2015), utilizing interview data from priests accused of sexual abuse.
Her scholarly interests range widely, and include analyses of clinical assessments of sex offenders and as well as narratives, applying critical and cultural criminological perspective of identity management and deviant behavior. She uses both qualitative methodological approaches along with practical quantitative techniques to engage in researching the nexus of offending and victimization.
