Brian Rafferty

Brian Rafferty, a cell and microbiologist, earned his BS and PhD from Binghamton University.  His dissertation research focused on intercellular signaling in intestinal epithelial cells during inflammatory conditions. After earning his PhD, Brian accepted a Post Doctoral Research Fellowship at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine. His fellowship research examined the role of oral bacteria in various cardiovascular conditions such as atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease.
He has been teaching as an adjunct at John Jay College, BMCC, Kingsborough Community College, and New York Institute of Technology for the past five years. His research interests at BMCC will focus on host-pathogen interactions, cell signaling, and the inflammatory response.
