Yasemin Gurcan

Assistant Professor, Science

Yasemin Gurcan earned her PhD in Physics from the CUNY Graduate Center. She holds a M.Phil., MS and BS in Physics. Before coming to BMCC she worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor and Chair of the Physics Department at Manhattanville College where she taught most of the upper level courses required for a physics BA degree. Previously she taught general physics courses at Baruch College, LaGuardia Community College, City College of Technology, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and The Fashion Institute of Technology.

Her research focuses on cold atoms, correlated electron systems, unconventional high temperature superconductivity, and group theory.
