Cathleen R Borck

Assistant Professor, Social Sciences and Human Services

Cathleen R. Borck will defend her dissertation “The Myth of the Unteachable: Youth, Race and the Capacity of Alternative Pedagogy” in September 2014 in the Sociology Department at the CUNY Graduate Center. Before coming to CUNY in 2006, Professor Borck received her BS in Sociology from Portland State University, having begun college at Foothill Community College in California.
She specializes in educational inequalities, marginalized youth, and alternative pedagogy. She has published in Radical Teacher and Qualitative Inquiry, and plans to publish parts of her dissertation manuscript in both article and book form. She has taught sociology courses at Hunter College, Brooklyn College, and Lehman College, and is delighted to be joining the BMCC community. She lives in Brooklyn with her dog Rudy H. Borck.
