Professor Yong Wei graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1996 with an Ed.D. in Applied Linguistics. His training in Applied Linguistics and teaching have helped him develop insights into teaching ESL students.
Professor Wei has been teaching ESL at BMCC since 1994, and, before joining BMCC, he had already worked for several years as an ESL instructor.
Expertise
Professor Wei understands learning how to write well for ESL students is very challenging and he likes to approach it in an organized way to cover all the aspects of it so that by the end of the program, students will be able to write with a lot more confidence and ability to function in college and beyond. Professor Wei tries to help students achieve that and acquire a solid foundation at the same time to handle different writing tasks (some of which can be quite challenging) that students will face in the future.
Degrees
MA and EdD in Applied Linguistics.
