Director, writer, actor, and producer, Keith Winsted is a native Alabamian who has been creating award-winning storytelling projects in New York City for twenty-five years. Winsted received his MFA from The New School University where he trained at The Actors Studio Drama School. He has been teaching in the BMCC Theatre program since 2007. He developed the program’s playwriting class and also teaches acting, voice & movement, stage management, and intro to theatre classes. At BMCC, Winsted most recently produced the 2020 CUNY Theatre Festival and will be bringing CTF to BMCC in Spring 2021. Before serving as Dramaturg for the BMCC 2019 production of Marisol, he also directed the play, Love is a Blue Tick Hound and The Tens: A Collection of Ten-Minute Plays. Winsted mentors playwrights and actors for the CTF and The Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival. In the FringeNYC Festival, Winsted directed the play Colorblind’d, which won “Best Ensemble.” Winsted is the creator and host of an interview series under the moniker Mister New York at mrny.net. Winsted stars in the award-winning short film, The Red Marsh. He recently worked for Frito-Lay in their commercial, Operation Smile. Winsted is a Dramatists Guild member.
