Women’s Herstory Month: Coming Out in English with Dr. Pablo José López Oro

March 13 at 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
| Hudson Room (to the left of cafeteria)

Women's Herstory Month 2025

Join us for a discussion on the challenges students from diverse ethnic backgrounds face when talking about their sexual orientation and identity at home. Our guest speaker, Pablo José López Oro, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Director of Africana Studies at Bryn Mawr College, is a transdisciplinary Black Studies scholar specializing in Black Latin American and U.S. AfroLatinx social movements, Black Queer Feminist ethnographies, and political mobilizations.

Sponsored by the BMCC Women’s Herstory Month, Department of Ethnic and Race Studies, Center for Belonging and Inclusion, and the BMCC Pride Alliance, this event is made possible by generous funding from the New York City Council LGBTQIA+ Caucus and the Office of the Mayor and is supported by The LaGuardia and Wagner Archives. The BMCC Pride Alliance allocated these funds to foster this cross-departmental partnership.

CCT: Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT) credit approved.
