Women’s Herstory Month: 21 in ’21: Electing More Women to the NYC Council

March 15, 2018 at 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
| Room S-341, 199 Chambers St.

In the most progressive city in the country, of 51 the New York City Council members a mere 11 are women. Help us change the conversation!

21 in ’21 seeks to elect at least 21 women to the New York City Council by 2021. Women are significantly underrepresented within government, especially young women and women of color. This matters because the City Council makes public policy that impacts all of us.

The 21 in ’21 nonpartisan effort will prepare women candidates to run for City Council through support, training, and networking.

This event will feature a panel discussion moderated by the Executive Director of 21 in ’21 and including several young women recently elected to the City Council. Come find out why there are so few women and how you can get involved.

Sponsors: Professor Heather James, Social Sciences, Human Services and Criminal Justice Department

This is a CCT (Co-Curricular Transcript) event.
