“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”-Maya Angelou
Do you have stories that you want to share with your peers in the BMCC community?
Life experiences that have taught you important lessons?
Join us for Storytelling Hour on Tuesdays at 3 p.m. starting with an information session on October 20.
The BMCC Office of Student Success invites you to a weekly hour-long student-led discussion; each week we will focus on a different topic. All BMCC students are welcome.
October 20: Information Session – All are welcome; no story required. Join us!
October 27: Creative Problem Solving – Necessity Is the Mother of Invention
November 3: Social Norms – The Ties that Bind Us
November 10: Expectations – Personal, Familial, and Societal
November 17: Interpersonal Relationships – Peace, Love, and Understanding
November 24: Home – What Does It Mean to You?
December 1: Communication – The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
December 8: First Impressions – Judging a Book by Its Cover
As a community, we can come together to share and celebrate each of our unique experiences. You can choose to share or just to sit in and listen to and learn from your peers.
Storytelling hours will each have a topic to be decided in advance so that our storytellers can be ready with an experience in mind. You will not need to write anything to prepare–just come with a story in mind.
Failures are just as welcome as triumphs: “Mistakes are the portals of discovery.”-James Joyce
