DMC Discusses His Life and Career

Join us on Wednesday, October 23, at 2 p.m. in room N-453 to hear DMC discuss his career, life experiences, challenges and mindset. He will also take questions from the audience!

Some of his accomplishments include:

  • First Rap Group on MTV: Their music video for “Rock Box” was the first rap video played on MTV, breaking significant barriers for the hip-hop genre.
  • Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: This honor recognizes the group’s impact on music and culture.
  • Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award: Awarded in 2016 for their contributions to music.
    Philanthropy : He co-founded The Felix Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to helping children in the foster care system.
  • Author: McDaniels has written an autobiography titled “King of Rock: Respect, Responsibility, and My Life with Run-DMC,” along with a memoir called “Ten Ways to Not Commit Suicide.”
  • Comic Book Creator: In 2014, he launched his comic book publishing imprint, Darryl Makes Comics.
