Some of his accomplishments include:
- First Rap Group on MTV: Their music video for “Rock Box” was the first rap video played on MTV, breaking significant barriers for the hip-hop genre.
- Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: This honor recognizes the group’s impact on music and culture.
- Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award: Awarded in 2016 for their contributions to music.
Philanthropy : He co-founded The Felix Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to helping children in the foster care system.
- Author: McDaniels has written an autobiography titled “King of Rock: Respect, Responsibility, and My Life with Run-DMC,” along with a memoir called “Ten Ways to Not Commit Suicide.”
- Comic Book Creator: In 2014, he launched his comic book publishing imprint, Darryl Makes Comics.
